The Story of Baby’s Day 1

Baby’s Day 1 was born from my own journey into motherhood and the mix of fear, love, and determination that came with it.
When my daughter arrived, I thought I was prepared. But within days, I was seeing social media posts from other moms battling bald spots, cradle cap, and dry patches on their babies’ skin. I didn’t want that to happen to my little girl. That’s when I decided to start a preventative routine, one rooted in my Nigerian heritage and my love for plant-based living.
I began making gentle, nutrient-rich blends using avocado oil, shea butter, aloe vera, and other natural ingredients. I used them daily to protect her hair and skin before problems could even begin. They worked beautifully keeping her curls soft, her scalp healthy, and her skin glowing.
But my journey wasn’t just about hair and skin. Leaving the hospital with my three-day-old was one of the most terrifying moments of my life. I remember thinking, “How am I supposed to do this without the village I grew up with back home?” In Nigeria, motherhood was never a solo act there were always aunties, cousins, and neighbors to help. Here, I felt the isolation deeply, and I knew I couldn’t be the only one.
That’s when my vision grew. Baby’s Day 1 wouldn’t just make plant-based baby products, it would create maternity centers where moms could rest, recover, and receive the kind of postpartum care that feels like having a village again. A place for healthy meals, mental health support, childcare education, and financial literacy training because motherhood is too big to do alone.
Today, Baby’s Day 1 is about more than what’s in the jar. It’s about giving mothers the tools, products, and community they need from day one ;so our babies thrive, and so do we.
